CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
When your box cooler is contaminated by marine growth (built-up algae or barnacles, for example), this ultimately affects its cooling capacity. This in turn reduces the efficiency of your ship’s engine. The regular cleaning and maintenance of box coolers ensures optimal cooling performance and extends their service life.
POOR COOLING DUE TO MARINE GROWTH
A box cooler is a type of heat exchanger installed in the ship’s hull that is in direct contact with the seawater. Since it is in constant contact with the outboard water, over time, this type of cooler is fouled by marine growth such as algae and barnacles, as well as floating debris. This built-up matter significantly affects the cooler’s performance. On top of this, the cooler’s surface is susceptible to corrosion from contact with seawater.
CLEANING, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF BOX COOLERS
CP Heat Exchanger Technologies specialises in the cleaning, maintenance, servicing, repair and overhaul of heat exchangers. And this group includes box coolers. We remove the built-up matter with the aid of special chemical cleaning methods , test the u-tube bundles for leaks and perform repairs where necessary – re-tubing the bundle for example.
MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE OF YOUR BOX COOLERS
CP Heat Exchangers cleaning and (if desired) overhaul method will restore your box cooler and bring its cooling capacity back to maximum performance. To extend the life span of your box cooler, we can also apply a special coating. This coating slows down the accretion of marine organisms as far as possible and helps protect the box cooler against the corrosive effects of seawater. For customers who would like to make use of the complete package, CP Heat Exchangers developed the Box cooler Performance Plan. This total retreatment program will completely renew your box cooler.
